BROWNS CANYON NATIONAL MONUMENTS
Browns Canyon was given its designation by President Obama in 2015. Browns includes 21,586 acres stretched between Salida and Buena Vista, primarily within the San Isabel National Forest. The Arkansas River flows through the canyon, making this a popular destination for white water rafting and anglers. In fact, the Arkansas has been named a gold medal river for its amazing brown and rainbow trout fishing. Browns is a stunning reminder of how amazing Colorado’s wild country is, allowing for picturesque hiking, biking, snow shoeing, camping, and climbing in and around the Monument.
Don’t Miss:
The best way to experience the wonders of the canyon is by river. Don’t miss white water rafting, which draws people from all over the US. Outfitters will guide you in the spring and summer for everyone from all skill levels, including families.
Stay + Explore:
For those looking for solitude and adventure, there is ample opportunity for backcountry hiking, particularly in the northern parts of the monument.
